How ReviewsMerger Calculates Trust Rating and Current Pulse
1. Normalise every platform to a 0–100 scale
Google uses a 5-star scale, Booking.com a 10-point scale, and TripAdvisor 5 bubbles. Every rating is converted to a 0–100 baseline: Google (4.7/5) × 100 = 94; Booking.com (9.4/10) × 100 = 94; TripAdvisor (4.9/5) × 100 = 98.
2. Trust Rating — volume-weighted average
Each normalised score is multiplied by its review count, summed across platforms, then divided by the total review count, so platforms with more reviews carry more influence. Trust Rating reflects long-term, high-confidence reputation.
3. Current Pulse — recent sentiment
Current Pulse (0–100) compares the most recent rating snapshot to the previous one to show whether a property is trending up or down right now, independent of its long-term Trust Rating.
4. Data sources & update frequency
Ratings and review counts are synced directly from Google, TripAdvisor and Booking.com on a rolling schedule, typically every few days per property.
